New Year, New Theme

Lucky Star

“Ready or not, action!” X3

After over 3 weeks in the works and 4 days behind schedule, the new theme I’ve been planning since a couple of months ago is finally complete, except for any potential bugs that might appear.

It didn’t really come out the way I planned it to either. My CSS skills needs plenty of polishing up. But in the end, I’m still quite happy with the result. There are still some tweaking to do though, and I’d like to hear some feedback if you have any. It’s best to implement any necessary changes while I can still remember which code does what.

I tried to keep the overall feel the same as my old theme, which you can probably notice with the fonts and the basic colour schemes. Page navigation has been moved to the top in a horizontal format rather than vertical since it was taking up quite a bit of space in the sidebar. The search box has also been moved up there.

The blogroll was also getting very lengthy and I’m pretty sure no one likes or even bothers to check out those long lists so it has now been moved to a separate page called “Links” on the top navigation and 5 random links will appear on the sidebar. Right underneath that will be 5 random posts from the archives.

I’m also considering to create a dynamic banner as well as truncating posts on the main page and use a “Read More” link to keep the page from stretching out too long.

So, let me know what you think 😀

Wow, pinku theme is pinku! I like the idea of having a random five articles linked, and also of moving the blogroll to a separate page (which is how all the cool kids do it).

The sidebar appears to be displaying below the body of the article at the moment, but then I don’t run on a typical resolution.

EDIT: sidebar has shifted position to where it should be. Probably no worries there.

Theme’s pretty solid, I don’t have much to say either way but it doesn’t interfere with the posts so it’s cool by me.

I was thinking of the same idea of displaying random links on my sidebar when I move to WordPress (which I’m assuming you’re using), is it just a plugin or did you code that yourself? Thanks. ^^

@nutcase23, glad you liked it 😀

@IKnight/animanachronism, it looks pink to you? It’s supposed to be orange. Hm.. maybe I should make it brighter.

    @CCY, it’s a plugin I got from here:

You’re going to move from Blogger to WordPress? You really should, WordPress is really great and arguably the best blogging platform around 😀

Unless something’s wrong with my eyes, it’s all pinked up. I think how it is presently is easier on the eyes than bright orange, in any case.

    The power of perspective.

I started off with a brighter looking orange and slowly toned the colour down and now I still see its somewhat orange-y while everyone else says pink.

Either that or I need my eyes checked.

But if it looks better this way then so be it 😀
