Tower of Druaga - the Sword of URUK

Regardless of what others think about it, I thought the Tower of Druaga – the Aegis of URUK was one of the top anime for 2008.  And the Sword of URUK is one of my most anticipated anime this season.

We’re into the 2nd week of 2009 but this is the first new anime I’ve watched this year and it did not disappoint for me. The animation quality could use some work for sure, but that was the only real problem I could see.

Fatina and Jil

Jil doesn’t realize how lucky he is

Fatina is now working as a tour guide and selling replicas of her flamethrower for 390 gildas. And apparently she had decided to move on from Neeba, and onto Jil. Being the idiot that he is, Jil still thinks of Kaaya and sadly Ki’s vision will definitely pull him and back to Kaaya.

Fatina may looked like a spoiled girl in the first season, but I’ve always liked her better. She was very straight forward, speaking what’s on her mind, while Kaaya was too secretive and manipulative. Fatina even questioned Neeba’s motive directly and if it weren’t for Neeba manipulating her feelings, she probably would have abandoned him much earlier.

Jil would probably end up with Kaaya but I say ‘boo!” to conventional happy endings and hope he dumps Kaaya too rot. She might have a reason for doing what she did, but deceiving and manipulating someone who is willing to risk his life for you puts her in bad light.

Besides, Fatina is better looking 😀

Utu des~

OMG! UTU!

I’ve always thought Utu was just an empty armor possessed by some spirits to make it move around and talk. Now the only ones who are still missing are Melt and Coopa.

Jil and Utu... omg!?

This is just… wrong…

Jil blushing like that while making that comment. It’s just wrong. So very wrong.

The Sword of URUK’s OP is pretty good, but I still prefer Swinging 😀

The Sword of URUK PV

Posted by Neko Kyou in Coming Soon, Thoughts on December 26th, 2008

A new PV for Tower of Druaga ~ the Sword of URUK just appeared on YouTube:

It’s basically just a quick recap of what happened in Aegis of URUK, with only a few seconds of actual new scenes from the upcoming season. From what I can make out, there are quite a few new characters being introduced (who somehow reminds me of some villains from some Naruto movie) and a more mature looking Kaaya.

Can’t wait for the Sword of URUK to start airing 😀

the Aegis and the Sword

the Tower of Druaga - the Sword of URUK

I was really hoping for it and kinda expected it, but yes! Tower of Druaga is getting a second season next year and based on the last few episodes of the Aegis, the Sword of URUK might take a more serious path. The final ep was a great ending to the Aegis, and the cliffhanger was excellently pulled off. This easily earns a spot in my 2009 to-watch list. And currently it’s the only one in there.

Jill and Kaaya mmm...

Jill’s reaction was anti-climatic…

I don’t have much complains about the series as a whole. It has been very, very enjoyable and I’m very glad that I had given it a chance seeing how I initially had no intention of watching it. Tower of Druaga is easily a favourite for me this season, and Gonzo apparently had been planning this sequel since the beginning judging by the “2009” poster shown in the OP.

Vampire Loli

She feels like a vampire loli version of Fatina…

Just hope that Gonzo continues with their free streaming policy with the Sword of URUK as well. My $50+ or so spent on “donations” might not be much, I really do support their idea and hope they stick with it.

Jill gets Fatina

Jill gets Fatina in the end. At least one of his “fantasies” came true.

And Neeba gets Kaaya. The first and second betrayals were pretty obvious but the third betrayal seems to be Gilgamesh. Interesting turn of events.
