12th and Final Day, Merry Christmas!

On the 12th day of Christmas, my anime gave to me…

Clannad

12 Liters of Tears.

Maybe not 12 liters, but Clannad did bring out the most tears compared to any other anime I’ve watched this year. It took me a few episodes to get hooked into Clannad. Even though I initially found Fuko to be nothing but annoying, it was she who eventually tugged the corners of my heart and pulled me into the series.

Of course, Clannad is more than just tears of sadness. There are also plenty of tears from joy (and laughter) as well. While the tears of laughter produced from Clannad are nowhere near the level which Minami-ke has brought out, it’s still a fairly decent amount which adds significantly to the tear-pool. Kotomi’s arc has been hilarious so far.

Clannad

With that, the 12 days are over and in a few more minutes, Christmas would be over on this side of the world as well. Before the clock chimes 12, I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. Whether or not you celebrate it (I don’t), it’s still a great holiday for everyone to enjoy and it’s never a bad idea to give some presents to the people who are close to you.

11th Day of an Anime Christmas

Posted by Neko Kyou in Random Fun on December 24th, 2007

On the 11th day of Christmas, my anime gave to me…

Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekiso

11 Haruhi Cast Members on Stage.

On 13th March this year, one of the greatest live performances related to one of the most popular anime of all times, took place in the land of the rising sun. A few months later, the recording of the event went on sale and was seen by Haruhiist worldwide.

Featuring 11 cast members from the anime, Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekiso may not be anime, but it’s an event that rocked the world when it began to spawn countless numbers of Hare Hare Yukai home videos and even one from prison. It was also featured in episode 15 of Lucky Star (although poor Shiraishi Minoru might have wished otherwise thanks to Akira).

I’m not going to go into any details about this event for 2 reasons:

  1. I think I’ve expressed it quite well in my Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekiso review. Loads of screenshots, so beware. Might take a while to load them all.
  1. I’m too tired right now, I even almost forgot to do today’s post. Good thing I’ve already planned what to feature today otherwise I’d probably be pulling my hair out right about now.

It has been 11 days, that makes tomorrow the final entry for the 12 Days of Christmas. Don’t forget to check out the previous 10 days before this:

Also don’t forget to check out the other participants posts. There has been some very interesting moments which has been picked out by everyone else:

10th Day of an Anime Christmas

Posted by Neko Kyou in Random Fun on December 23rd, 2007

On the 10th day of Christmas, my anime gave to me…

Lucky Star

10 Loli Cheerleaders.

From chocolate cornets to pretty much anything you can think of, Lucky Star has been one of the most enjoyable series this year for me. There are just so many “omg that’s so like me!” moments while many other jokes goes by unnoticed to the untrained eye otaku.

3 of my favourite moments in Lucky Star are when Konata cosplayed as Haruhi (and Aya kept switching back and forth between Konata mode and Haruhi mode), when Kanata paid a visit as a spirit and the finale with the entire cast doing the full Motteke! Sailor Fuku cheerleading sequence.

And here’s the clip for the cheerleading dance sequence of Motteke! Sailor Fuku 😀

On the 9th day of Christmas, my anime gave to me…

Nakahara Sunako

9 Screaming Ladies.

As the saying goes, “a picture scream is worth a thousand words”.

[sunako.mp3]

Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge is seriously one of the biggest surprise of the year. The character design is ugly, the artwork is mostly horrible, and everything about this series feels like it was on a tight budget. But damn it’s hilarious.

The story and plot can be pretty random at times, often throwing common sense out the window for some laughs. But the main idea is rather consistent throughout the series as the boys tries to turn Sunako into a proper lady. Most of the fun is how Sunako’s screams and how well she can make others, even those who are close to her, screaming in fear.

Sunako Samurai

But Sunako doesn’t only possess the scream factor, she also has the cool factor, often wowing everyone when they least expected it. She is an expert of pulling cool stunts out of thin air, two of her best being full military uniform Sunako with her chainsaw and samurai Sunako. Not to mention the ping-pong battle and the sports day in school.

Actually… I have a confession to make. The reason why Sunako is featured today is because she threatened me earlier with that huge DEATH chainsaw. I would never… uh… no, Sunako, put that thing away… NuuU!!!!!

Sunako Chainsaw

“Die!!!”

8th Day of an Anime Christmas

Posted by Neko Kyou in Random Fun on December 21st, 2007

Have you seen what these guys have been up to!? Oh, the horror! Nah, just kidding 😉

CCYoshi | Owen | Usagijean | 0rion | Roxas | Quinn | Martin | Michael | DS | CalAggie | Moogy | IKnight | DeathToZippermouth | Kabitzin | Reverse Vampire | CJ & Crisu

Thought I’d try something a little different. Okay, I admit, I might have been slightly influenced by DS 😛 And yeah, it really did took me 8 hours in case you’re wondering after you’re done reading.

If you have absolutely no idea what’s the heck this “12 Days of Christmas” deal is, head back to Day 1: A Chiaki-sama hanging in the air to find out what this is all about.

On the 8th day of Christmas, my anime gave to me…

Code Geass: Euphemia Massacre

8 Hours in Shock…

Dear Princess Euphemia Li Britannia,

Thank you for wasting away 8 hours of my life. Because of the unthinkable thing which you did, I was left in shock for approximately 8 hours. Unable to think or do anything properly, with my mind blanked out and my hands shaking, I had to hide myself under the blanket in the corner of my room.

My thought process, as I’ve mentioned earlier, became slightly unstable and was full of negative thoughts in a loop that never ends along the lines of “Ah… The world is full of despair…”, “Code Geass… It will only end with even more sorrow” and “There is no hope for anyone anymore…”

Euphemia Li Britannia

Yes, it is you who had destroyed everything. The hope that Lelouch and Suzaku would band together against a common evil, the idea that Gawain and Lancelot would once again combine strength against the final enemy, the anticipation that has been built up throughout the entire time… torn, slashed, and burnt into nothingness within seconds and minutes.

Why!? Why did you do such a thing!?

Do not think of blaming it on the Geass. It was you who forced Lelouch to do what he did, even if he had done it accidentally in the end. If you had just kept your big mouth shut, none of it would have happened. Even after the Geass was used, you showed signs of resistance, but you decided that it was much easier to let go and allow the Geass to take over.

Oh, the horror you have caused! Things could have gone right, you had managed to convinced Lelouch to join forces with you, but you just had to spoil it all.

I still shudder whenever I recall that moment. What have we all done to deserve this, especially from you, one who many have dubbed, the Lacus clone. No, you were far from being anywhere near the most powerful of all Pink Princesses. Even Meer had done better, she had sacrificed herself in order to protect others, even if she was part of the cause.

But you, dear Euphie, were different. You did not want to leave alone. So you took out thousands of innocent lives before you finally went down and in the process, tainted Lelouch and his friendship with Suzaku.

You have destroyed Code Geass.

Yet, you have also immortalized yourself along with Code Geass to make it one of the most memorable scenes ever not only for this year, but in the entire history of anime.

Code Geass and (unfortunately) your blood-stained hands will never be forgotten, and fans throughout the world would be waiting for its continuation in spring next year.

Code Geass: Euphemia Li Britannia

Yours traumatized,

Nekonron a.k.a. Neko Kyou
