Minorin’s DaiCon Concert…

Posted by Neko Kyou in Random Fun on July 14th, 2009

Sadly, this is one of the most clear shots I got of Minorin :(

Finally got some proper rest after the exciting and rushed weekend. Took a flight from hometown Kuching to KL on Friday evening specifically just to attend Chihara Minori’s Q&A and mini concert.

We weren’t allowed to take pictures or videos of the concert, so there will be none here. Even the Animax representative had to seek last minute permission from Minorin’s manager to be allowed to record the concert.

The entire concert was recorded probably by Minorin’s staff, so just maybe we will see a DVD of the concert being sold. I know I would want it 😉

The con itself was okay although I felt it could have been better. The KKnM queue for both days were crazy to say the least, people who wanted to buy had to queue up for an average of 45 minutes to get into the booth.

But that’s not the main reason why most people attended DaiCon. Many others flew from Singapore and even from the land of rising sun itself – which really helped a lot.

I was told that these fans used their own money and provided glow sticks for those people in the AWSM seats and Minorin flags for everyone. I believe they played a large part in making the concert a success – so a big THANK YOU! I didn’t get the glow stick, but I really appreciate the flag 😀

I can’t remember how many songs were performed, but I remember enjoying all of them, especially “Yuki, Muon, Madobe Nite“, Nagato Yuki’s character song. She also performed her latest single which I believe she said it was her first time performing it live and she was nervous about it.

She also mentioned that she was glad she could interact well with the crowd, she was wondering what she’d do if we could not understand her. And soon after she made that comment, I believe she asked a question but had no reaction from the audience for a while which resulted in a short, awkward silence (found out later that it was the Japanese fans that saved the day during the eerie silence).

At one point she asked if we wanted to hear a song from another anime (I believe it was Ga Rei Zero) and said we probably haven’t seen it yet. She was surprised when everyone shouted that we’ve already seen it. Maybe someone should have told her that if it’s out in Japan, we’ve seen it :)

When Minorin announced that she was going to sing the last song, the audience started shouting for encore that made her laugh and replied that it’s not time for encore yet.

When she finally left the stage, everyone began to (appropriately) chant for an encore. It was quite funny as the crowd’s enthusiasm went up and down. There was even a false start where everyone cheered thinking that Minorin had re-appeared.

But she did appear 5 minutes later in a stunning Kebaya and gave us another 3 songs. One of her staff came on stage to tell her it’s time to go. Apparently she had gone on for longer than planned.

Her final words to us were “mareshia saikou da, kono bakayaro~” in Chiaki-mode that had the fans howling for more.

Maybe because this was my first concert experience, but to me it was one of the best experience I’ve ever had and something that I will hold dear to forever. My only regret was being unable to get the AWSM ticket in time so I didn’t manage to get Minorin’s autograph.

But if such an opportunity comes again, I’ll make sure not to miss it 😉

Chihara Minori Live in Malaysia

Chihara Minori

OMG! Chihara Minori is coming to Malaysia!!! And she’ll be performing live!

I only found out about this a couple of days ago and have been so excited ever since.

She will be attending DaiCon being held at Multimedia University, Cyberjaya on the 11th and 12th of July. She also left a special video message for those attending, which can be viewed here.

Because I’m living in East Malaysia, I would need to go over to KL by air. Now there are only about 5 seiyuus around that would make me catch a plane all the way there and back, and Chihara Minori is one of them.

Luckily, air fare is very affordable if I booked now, so excuse me while I go do all my bookings for the trip in July 😉

Oh yes, I’m going to need a new camera as well…
