5th Day of an Anime Christmas

Posted by Neko Kyou in Random Fun on December 18th, 2007

The 12 Days of Christmas anime style is a joint effort from members of the A.B.C., suggested by CCYoshi and joined by the following members of the group: Owen, Usagijean, 0rion, Roxas, Quinn, Martin, Michael, DS, CalAggie, Moogy, animanachronism (who went with the Gundam Meister’s on the 4th day while I went with the MS) and DeathToZippermouth, Kabitzin (who went with 12 very useful WP plugins for your WordPress blog instead of anime moments) and Reverse Vampire @ THAT

On the 5th day of Christmas, my anime gave to me…

Black Cat

5 Bullets Deflected by Black Cat.

This is one of my favourite and most memorable scene in Black Cat’s anime. Train easily deflected all 5 shots from Durham, the Apostle’s resident gunslinger. There wasn’t a single wasted move. Each bullet took one step and one swing of Hades to completely deflect the chi bullets before Train pointed the gun up under Durham’s chin.

Not only did it really show the differences between Train and Durham, you can really get the vibe of a true legendary eraser (or an ex-eraser in this case) from Train. In order to pull off what he did, you would need to know where the bullets are coming from, when they will hit, and the range. Not to mention uber fast reflex that is humanly impossible. They’re bullets for goodness sakes, even if they are made from chi, it still takes a split second for them to travel within that 5 steps distance.

I didn’t really know anything about the anime when I first watched it and only read the manga after I found the ending of the anime to be rather poor. Maybe that’s why I prefer the anime version of Train over the manga version. He’s much more cooler in the anime and the timeline and how he met Saya was easier to follow.

It wasn’t until when Black Cat was aired over Animax that I finally caught the true episode 15 (A Runaway Cat), which was not shown anywhere else as far as I know. But it finally explained the conversation and flashback between Charden and Sephiria when they were in the helicopter heading towards Eve. Probably a marketing gimmick or something. Either that or they accidentally missed airing an episode on TBS *rofl*

4th Day of an Anime Christmas

Posted by Neko Kyou in Random Fun on December 17th, 2007

On the 4th day of Christmas, my anime gave to me…

Gundam 00

4 Brand New Gundam.

Gundam 00 (aka g00ey) first few episodes did not impress me at all. While many others had praised it, I found it to be sucky and downright poor. Even Gundam Seed Destiny’s first impression was better.

But in later episodes I began to find a strange appeal to the very overpowered Gundams, especially in the latest few episodes. The Meister’s are beginning to push their Gundams more as they are backed into a corner and the struggle that was lacking earlier on finally forces some character development to take place among the emo pilots.

The Meisters aside, the Gundams are cool. And if they can continue to come up with surprises such as the one below, it’s only going to get better.

Gundam Nadleeh

“Surprise! I am a she-male after all!”

I know I make fun of g00ey a lot, but seriously, it’s much better than I expected and is definitely memorable. How often do you see a Gundam perform a sex-change (or at least, turn into another unit) in front of your very eyes? :)

3rd Day of an Anime Christmas

Posted by Neko Kyou in Random Fun on December 16th, 2007

Before we begin…

This post has been brought to you by the A.B.C., suggested by CCYoshi and joined by the following members of the group:

Owen, usagijean, 0rion, Roxas, Quinn, Martin, Michael, DS, CalAggie, Moogy.

All your Christmas gifts are belong to us!

And back to our regular program.

On the 3rd day of Christmas, my anime gave to me…Shugo Chara Eggs

3 Shugo Chara Eggs

Even thought I called it a cross between Sailormoon and Care Bears, Shugo Chara really turned out to be something much more and I’m enjoying every bit of it. The storyline is surprisingly quite solid despite the slightly weak opening and there appears to be much more going on behind the scenes that has yet to surface. Hopefully, rumors that the series will run for 50 or so episodes are true.

Taking a few minutes to think, I really can’t recall any magical girl series that I’ve enjoyed since Cardcaptor Sakura and Akazukin Cha Cha. I was very near to dropping this series when I had decided not to blog about it early this season, but I’m glad I stuck with it for a couple more episodes after that.

Among Amu’s 3 shugo chara’s, my favourite is easily Miki. I don’t know why, but I just find her the most adorable and interesting compared to Ran and Su. Miki might have even been the hook that grabbed me in the first place.

Shugo Chara

Spade, Heart and Club. Where did Diamond go?

2nd Day of an Anime Christmas

Posted by Neko Kyou in Random Fun on December 15th, 2007

On the 2nd day of Christmas, my anime gave to me…

Mokona Modoki

Two Mokona Modoki.

Not exactly an anime, but close enough. The release of CLAMP in Wonderland 2 was a huge deal for me being a CLAMP nut. I’ve already expressed my love for the music video before so I won’t go into how much I love it again here.

It’s super rare to see the 2 Mokona’s together and CLAMP in Wonderland 2 was the first time they are seen interacting with each other for more than the one minute or so it took to introduce them in Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle.

Truly a double treat for all 😀

Mokona Modoki mo Doki Doki!

“Woah… I can’t see black Mokona’s face at all…”

Syaoran & Mokona

By now I think everyone in A.B.C. who is taking part in the 12 Days of Christmas posts has already started since yesterday, so here’s a list of everyone (other than 0rion who has already completed):

I might have missed a few guys, so please let me know if I accidentally left you out in the list above.
